  • Successful Applicants will be notified on Friday June 30th 2023

  • Participants will receive a $600 stipend for the four day intensive course from July 17-20th

Applicant Requirements:

  • 18-24 years old as of July 17, 2023

  • Lives in the Portland Metro Area

  • Must submit an up to 90 second pitch of your business idea, story, and why you are a good fit for our program.

  • If you

    (Tip: Let your personality shine!)

  • Example: Lemonade Stand

    • What products: Natural and Frozen lemonade

    • Goals: Start with lemonade and eventually add other flavors like strawberry and pineapple.

    • Why my product?: Because lemonade is a great drink summer or winter, refreshing, and a good source of vitamin D. My business will be customer service focused so they have a great and unique experience!

    • Why do I want to start my own business?: Because I come from a family of entrepreneurs and always wanted to start a business of my own. I love the idea of being my own boss and providing a quality product.

  • Monday - Thursday: July 17-20th 2023

(Workshops will take place on every second Wednesday from August 2023)

  • Workshop 1: Wednesday August 9th 2023

  • Workshop 2: Wednesday September 13th 2023

  • Workshop 3: Wednesday October 11th 2023

  • Workshop 4: Wednesday November 8th 2023

  • Workshop 5: Wednesday December 13th 2023

  • Workshop 6: Wednesday January 10th 2024

  • Workshop 7: Wednesday February 14th 2024

  • Workshop 8: Wednesday March 13th 2024

  • Workshop 9: Wednesday April 10th 2024

  • Workshop 10: Wednesday May 8th 2024

Selection Process:

Participants will be selected from the list of qualified applicants based on the following criteria: 

  • Clear business idea,

  • Description of products/services,

  • Why this product/service,

  • Why start a business,

  • Overall presentation.

Who isn't a good fit:

Your industry needs professional licensing, schooling, or credentials that you have yet obtained.

  • Example: Nail Tech, Accountant, Hair Stylist (not including natural hair care)

Must be available:

  • 4-day intensive July 17th - 20th 2023

  • Monthly group workshops, 2nd Wed of every month starting in August

  • Monthly meetings with business coach

  • Monthly outings to markets and businesses

  •  1st Outing, August 5th 2023: Vanport Jazz Festival
